Wedding Photography in Cheshire - Sasha and Nick at Rookery Hall
Time to share some wedding photography in Cheshire. Back in May of this year I had the extreme pleasure of capturing Sasha and Nick’s amazing wedding day. They had a vintage styled day that was full of love, family and fun times.
The Ceremony at St. Mary's Sandbach
They were married at St. Mary’s Church in Sandbach. As a Cheshire photographer I have shot a fair few weddings at this lovely church but this one was extra special. Nick’s grandfather was the vicar here for many years and was well known and loved throughout the parish. Nick took a moment before the ceremony to pay his respects at his grandfathers grave. He also carried with him his grandfather’s RAF wings and grandma’s wedding ring to keep them close throughout the day.
Sasha arrived completely calm and relaxed, looking stunning in her original vintage dress. She found this dress in an Etsy store and it didn’t even need to be altered. It fitted perfectly as if it had been made just for her. Sometimes things are just meant to be. I also loved her hair and head piece which added to the vintage look.
One of the many reasons I love weddings is that they bring families together. This was a wedding that really emphasised family. Sasha was given away by her younger brother and her sisters were bridesmaids. Nick’s brothers were bestman and groomsmen along with his nephews. And there was one very important page boy, Nick and Sasha’s gorgeous little boy, Frankie.
The ceremony passed without a hitch and we had some time for some more traditional wedding photography outside the church. These family group shots can take time and so I try to keep them to a minimum and capture the day more naturally wherever I can. It wasn’t long before Sasha and Nick were climbing into their 1934 Austin 7 to head over to Rookery Hall. The car belonged to Nick’s uncle and so Nick was able to drive it himself with just his new bride for company. They made quite a picture driving off into the Cheshire countryside with all the shoes and cans tied to the back of the car.
The Reception at Rookery Hall Hotel and Spa
Cheshire wedding photographers like myself love venues like Rookery Hall. It has so many options for wedding photographs both inside and out. I particularly enjoy it when the venue has gardens on all sides. It means that you can move around as the light changes through the day and always have somewhere perfect to shoot. On a sunny day that makesphotographers very happy. In this case we shot under the pergola in the bright midday sun, where Sasha’s bouquet matched the wisteria flowers. Later on when the sun was setting we went to the front garden where the last of the sunshine was still twinkling through the trees. This is my favourite time of day for bride and groom portraits. The speeches are done, everyone is a bit more relaxed and the light is often amazing. On this particular day everything came together and I loved how the sunset portraits turned out.
This was one of my favourite Cheshire weddings ever and I wish Nick, Sasha and Frankie all the best for wonderful future together.
